January + Instagram

January is always slow for photos, but that dosen’t mean I’ve stopped working. I like the slow season because I have time to be creative in other areas of my life. I’ve been cooking vegetables, knitting, sewing, hula hooping and practicing yoga and calligraphy. Its kind of a lot when I sit back and look at it, but there is still so much I want to do! I’m very excited about the busy season this year. I am working with couples that I really like, and I am really trying to challenge myself and grow. I know I should hate instagram on principal because I am a photographer, but I don’t. I really like that it encourages people to take more photos. I love following people and seeing the world through someone else’s eyes. Follow me on instagram! @katiegandyawesome

Blythe’s wonderful family

Blythe and I have been friends since we were just kids. She is one of the best people you will ever meet, and certainly one of the best friends I could ask for. I love her sweet husband Jason, and her  wonderful son Ezra. It was so good to see the whole family and have some fun in the park. I don’t think I have seen Ms. Gin in 8 years, and she practically raised me! Blythe and Katie back in Middle School blythesfamilyimg_001 blythesfamilyimg_002 blythesfamilyimg_003 blythesfamilyimg_004 blythesfamilyimg_005 blythesfamilyimg_006 blythesfamilyimg_007 blythesfamilyimg_008 blythesfamilyimg_009 blythesfamilyimg_010

Hula Hooping!

So, back in May I decided to learn to hula hoop. I wanted to lose some weight, and I have always loved watching those hooper girls at festivals. I have to say, hooping has changed my life. It has become the most wonderful creative outlet for me. I just put on some headphones, and dance in the back yard until all my stress is gone. I am a happier, healthier, more creative person since I started hooping.  hoop

Holidays!

How fast was that? I cannot believe the holidays are all over. 2012 has been a wonderful year, and I have so much to be thankful for. I met some wonderful people, gained a couple of new skills, grew in love and marriage, lost a bit of myself (60lbs actually), and learned a lot about patience. I am really looking forward to 2013. I’m making a list of goals and resolutions which include:

1. sewing

2. surfing

3. knit a sweater

4. learn to bake bread

5. do handstands

6. start Gandy Co. (our food truck)

7. be more disciplined

8. take more pictures

9. update my blog more 🙂

I love the New Year. It is a fresh start, and time to evaluate yourself and make some changes. Happy 2013!
